The end of the day often does not match our expectations of the morning. The presumptive mind expects the routine and out comes that will take place in a day are 100% sure. The consistency of nature is a divine rhythm and the disruption of them a divine order. The God of creation may be consistent but please don’t think you know what He will do and when. The mystery of God’s ways give us clues to Holy and unique character and authority. The way we look for God helps us to learn about His Holy and supreme position to be faithful and unpredictable .
My first prayer was for my salvation. The next prayer was for the salvation of my family and friends. The actions I took after making these prayers was to looking with expectation for their salvation. I would talk and live among my friends and family as I had always done, but I was looking for God to show up in those relationships. I had remembered how God had been consistently showing up in Bible teaching and preaching I was getting in church on Sunday. The God of my salvation disrupted my presumption of where and how my friends and family would meet Him. My expectation of evangelizing was disrupted by God with His order. God introduced me to learning how to share salvation outside of the church. I was introduced to Christians and teaching that challenged me to see God offering salvation outside of my familiar church settings.
I presumed the first time I shared with my friends and family God would save them. The reality of sin and the flesh and the world system and the devil became much more menacing and threatening as I was sharing and praying for others salvation. The study of scipture and the desire to know God better had replaced my own presumptions about the life I chose to live in Jesus. The desire I share with Christians all around the world. The ultimate goals I had early in my Chrisitian faith had many presumptions. The biggest is that I thought I knew enough to be prepared for the end of the earth as we know it. Salvation in Jesus does give one eternal life ,so the eternal life in God are truly preparation for the future. The presumptions come from my thinking how each day , hour, and moment will turn out. The world all around us is ever changing and our understanding changes as well. The ant knows his work produces a colony, but his small routine is often disrupted by rain and or other things that can disrupt and even destroy his colony. The ant however does a amazing thing inspite of his small understanding and size he continues to work without fear of destruction and delay. The ants repair what is broken and often come back bigger and stronger construction.
The rain and other animals and insect are a big threat to ant colonies. The engineering genius of the ant is evident. However, the lesson we can learn from the ant is to persevere through all of the obstacles and disappointments that come. The end of all our work and reworking in life is the end. We all die the ant and us humans. We all rely on our observation of the consistency in the world. Only God knows the future entirely. We only can know bits an pieces of it. The ant helps the world by it’s use and distribution of resources on a very small level yet I know the world needs these creatures because without them the Eco systems they support would be in disrepair.
The ant supports his “kingdom” each ant is a needed worker in the “kingdom”. The Bible ask the believer to watch the ant Proverbs 6:6 . The work of gathering food for the winter and construction of a home are practical things that people ought to observe and apply this ant wisdom. The believer, however must remember he is a subject of God’s kingdom by way of the spirit. The wisdom of the ant must apply to spiritual wisdom. The end of all things is near. Did we presume to know what God wanted from our lives? Does our actions resemble the wisdom the ant?
